Guinea-Bissau - 2010 - Stamps on stamps

The bird on the 600f stamp is a Purple-throated Carib, Eulampis jugularis.

The top central panel shows three earlier WWF stamps featuring birds:

The stamp features a Wood Sandpiper, Tringa glareola.

Mozambique - 30.1.10 - Parrots

The second and third stamps in the left-hand column are inscribed Psittacula krameri (Rose-ringed Parakeet) and Poicephalus gulielmi (Red-fronted Parrot), respectively, but they are clearly modified ‘cagebird’ varieties.

A natural Rose-ringed Parakeet appears in the surrounds (left-hand bird) together with a Rosy-faced Lovebird, Agapornis roseicollis.

Mozambique - 30.1.10 - Tropical birds and flora

The single bird in the surrounds is an Eastern Paradise-Whydah, Vidua paradisaea, the same species that appears on the stamp in the separate 175m miniature sheet.

Mozambique - 30.1.10 - Pigeons

Here the pigeons in the surrounds are a pair of Namaqua Doves, Oena capensis.

(The Bird on stamp at top left is a Rameron Pigeon, Columba arquatrix, its first appearance on stamps.)

Mozambique - 30.1.10 - Seabirds

The three birds in the surrounds are:

Cape Cormorant, Phalacrocorax capensis
Great Crested Tern, Thalasseus bergii
Hartlaub’s Gull, Chroicocephalus hartlaubii

The cormorant is inscribed as ‘Phalacrocorax neglectus’ or Bank Cormorant, but the yellow on the bill makes it a better fit for capensis.

St. Thomas & Prince Is. - 2010 - International year of biodiversity

The top left stamp shows a Mauritius Kestrel.

A species of flamingo appears in the lower set of ‘2010’ numerals in the surrounds.

The stamp at lower right is South Georgia 1992 20p Yellow-billed Pintail.

The partially hidden stamp in the surrounds is Grenada 1978 50c White-necked Jacobin, Florisuga mellivora.

Ukraine - 28.12.10 - Sviati Hory national park

The bird on stamp at top right is a (red-spotted) Bluethroat.

The two distant flying birds in the surrounds at top centre are a species of Crane, presumably either Common Crane, Grus grus, or Demoiselle Crane, Anthropoides virgo, both being native to the Ukraine.

Rumania - 24.2.11 - Parrots

As well as the Cockatiel, Nymphicus hollandicus, on the stamp, there are five parrots in the surrounds. These correspond to the species on the five singles that are featured in the set. Clockwise from top right they are:

In addition to the Emperor Penguins on the stamp there are two birds in the surrounds.

Flying at top left is Snowy Owl, Bubo scandiacus.
Perched on the rock below is Arctic Tern, Sterna paradisaea.

The Bird on the stamp is Spanish Eagle, Aquila adalberti.

In the surrounds there are three other birds:
Flying at top left is Black-chested Buzzard-Eagle, Geranoaetus melanoleucus.
Flying at lower left is Abbott’s Booby, Papasula abbotti.
Perched at right is Yellow-shouldered Blackbird, Agelaius xanthomus.
